Extreme Tactics is a real-time, multi-player tactical war simulation in which players can design and control their own vehicles. Through their choices of vehicle designs, artificial intelligence, strategy, and tactical decisions, the personalities of the players permeate the game to an extent unmatched in existing real-time strategy games.
Unlike any other game on the market, Extreme Tactics focuses game play on tactical warfare and provides the player with greater variety in game play. This is accomplished by allowing the player to design their own war machines from the ground up and then deploy them on the battlefield. Each battle will be unique with hundreds of possible war machines and terrain to face. Most similar games on the market boil down to a single effective strategy, i.e., build up a massive tank armada and swarm the enemy. Extreme Tactics eliminates such dominating strategies through the unlimited variation of war machines and tactical situations. Even the AI of your war machines is under your complete control during the design phase. Your enemy will not know how your vehicles will behave until he's in the heat of battle. Extreme Tactics has the most sophisticated AI on the market and by providing the player with a wide variety of choices, insures hundreds of hours of replay value.
Extreme Tactics is a game where you fight tactical battles with a fleet of war machines that you design. Every design choice you make, from type of transport to weapons systems to stealth detection, has a direct impact on how the battle will be waged and whether you win or lose. Realistic terrain effects must be taken into account when choosing transports or your war machines might never reach the enemy. For instance, to traverse sharp rocks you must use giant treads or to pass water barriers you will need hover craft. You must use resources wisely and balance your forces with scouts, offensive, and defensive forces. Vehicles are capable of supporting multiple weapons with automatic or user controlled independent targeting. Three types of stealth can be used to spring surprise attacks on the enemy, although detection is also available to protect against such deception. The game includes incredible advanced technology such as Gate vehicles that can transport forces across the map and Pods that can infect enemy vehicles with a computer virus that will cause them to fire on their own troops.
The ability to design and create your own fleet of war machines is unmatched by any game on the market and will make Extreme Tactics one of the best multiplayer games available. Competitor games have but a handful of different forces to throw at you. Only a couple of those get used in a multiplayer game which often degenerates into a huge tank battle. A multiplayer game of Extreme Tactics will never play the same way twice because of the limitless variety of enemy vehicles and tactics you will face. Every feature in Extreme Tactics has been designed with tactical warfare in mind so that you have a wide array of options with which to wage your battles. The largest and most realistic terrain maps available offer a variety of tactical opportunities to create kill zones, ambushes, and defensive positions. You don't spend any time building structures. Instead you concentrate on what's most important, developing winning battle tactics through the effective use of resources.
